Above a portait of Picnic groceries delivery company CEO Michiel Muller, who says that advances in artificial intelligence are about to drive a "massive" boom in online grocery deliveries. Picnic has disrupted the Dutch supermarket landscape with its offer of free delivery in a time window of 20 minutes - made possible by squeezing efficiency out of huge amounts of data. Here a slideshow of images from a recent shoot for Leunzorg - a company that offers assisted living accommodation to vulnerable people. It was important that the pictures should not look like stock pictures – we are all familiar with the type – the ones that you can buy online, and everybody wears a paste on smile. The problem is, of course, we've become so accustomed to that kind of picture that we don't really believe them anymore. Far better, as long as you have a good story to tell, is to make a reportage. As an editorial photographer – a photo-journalist - I'm used to telling it as it is. One of the aspects of the care that Leunzorg prides itself on, are the connections forged between the staff and the residents. So when those connections are so clear, and the warmth they generate so easy to see, then that becomes an even easier story to tell.
In the same vein Quiksilver asked me to cover the launch party for its resurrected original '70s scallop style board shorts. Although pitched as a low key back to basics the event had no shortage of stars, including ASP pro Dane Reynolds, and surfing's first world champion Jeff Hakman

And again the US sports brand Hyperice asked me to shoot a series of portraits of their sponsored atheletes in Europe, with the brief "A Day in the Life of...". Again realism was requires so here are Luc Abalo, world champion handball player and Olympic gold medalist in the gym in Paris, along with Wesley Fofana, French international rugby player at his club in Clermont Auvergne and soccer's Olivier Giroud of Arsenal and France in London.
