My photo-journalistic career began in earnest in the 2000's when I was asked to shoot a travel story in Spain for Marie Claire's French edition. I shot stories in Paris and reportage world wide for several years. But perhaps the seeds were really sown much earlier, in New York city, where I assisted some of the industry's finest photographers working for Sports Illustrated.
Currently, I provide news and features from Amsterdam – both stills and video – to Agence France-Presse, shooting around 40 – 50 stories a year. AFP has huge reach, outputting my footage to broadcasters such as the BBC and CNN, and images to newspapers like the Guardian and The New York Times.
I also have a second string to my bow – I studied painting at Chelsea School of Art before going on to Corsham and a career as a painter followed. I've shown throughout Europe in galleries from Brussels to Barcelona and Munich to Milan. I was shortlisted for the John Moore's painting prize and also artist in residence to the city of Munich. My work can be found in collections, such as the Royal Bank of Scotland's.
In my terms, painting is about matter, a visual 'thing' and how you see it, while the primary function of photography is narrative. Now, here in Amsterdam, I am attempting to braid these two threads, the object and the subject, together.
